Healthy teeth and gums are key to health.
Keeping good dental hygiene can make a huge difference when it
pertains to getting a new job, making new friends, or even starting a
new romance.
Brushing your teeth is not enough, flossing, staying away from sugar
and adopting new oral hygiene routines can make a huge difference.
A Healthier Mouth
Let’s look at four simple tips for a healthier mouth and contagious smile:
Oil pull with organic coconut oil:
Oil pulling started in ancient times as an Indian Ayurvedic
treatment. It has been used for years to strengthen gums and teeth. It
also helps with tooth decay, bleeding gums, and bad breath. Oil pulling
is simple. All it requires is a good organic coconut oil.
It should be swished in the mouth as you would a mouthwash. It must be
worked around the mouth and through the teeth very thoroughly for about
1o to 15 minutes. This allows the oil to pull out bad bacteria, fungus,
viruses and more. “The best time is in the morning before eating
breakfast, but it can be done at any time, the important point is to
just do it. I seek to do it twice a day if my schedule allows,” suggests Dr. Joseph Mercola.
Brush teeth with turmeric powder and water:
Turmeric as
antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which make it an ideal
ally for mouth hygiene. Mix 1 tsp of turmeric powder with 1/3 cup of
water to form a paste and brush with it. It not only has antibacterial
properties, but helps whiten teeth as well.
Use an unwaxed floss:
Waxed floss has a coating of wax covering a thin nylon string. Most
dental floss is made from nylon, which is a petroleum based product.
Most floss is coated with a type of Teflon, like non-stick
cookware-called PTFE.
The EPA has found such coatings to be toxic.
Depending on the type of floss, the wax may be flavored to make flossing more pleasant. But the flavoring may also contain harmful synthetics.
Mouth rinse with peppermint oil:
According to the University of Maryland Medical Center,
peppermint may have antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral
properties, which makes it great for the mouth. Rinsing the mouth with
peppermint oil may not only get rid of bacteria, fungi, and viruses, but
helps with fresh breath as well.
